      Hi All
I would like to coat the cork float before I install in my 1957 Javelin project. I have heard on this site that airplane dope works well. Would some one please provide me a specific product name and type that I could source for this application. That would make it easier for me when I go to the hobby shop to buy something.

      Thank you.

      Bill

Thanks Crosbyman, it is a new float only ones for that size motor are still cork so I want to give it some added protection.

The old floats were coated with orange shellac, which is dissolved by alcohol products. The new cork floats have a different coating than the old ones. No need to add anything.

I do have some good old cork floats too that I could also reuse if recovered, so ……what brand of dope would people recommend for me?

I don’t know, some sort of polyurithane, or something. But it’s been in use at least as long as ethanol debuted. It’s a lighter color than the orange shellac.
