On my opposed twin motors I use RR-174 or 176 and EP-360 Echlin condensers from NAPA.
October 22, 2023 at 11:37 pm #281979.22uf are very common and available at OB dealers .
you can also find 630 v .22uf on amazon… they don’t come is a can for mounting but under a fw nobody will know except you. I have not tried them yet but they should be OK
just insulate the wires
they do test OK on my test box. (no leakage)

Those work well but if you choose to use them trim the wires and solder on a piece of stranded wire instead. Solid wire will not withstand vibration.

October 23, 2023 at 12:05 pm #281984good point to consider 🙂 they would probably break at the capacitor itself … a dap of epoxy may help but I like the strand wire solution. I think they will slide in an emptied capacitor can ( see MR.Mohat method) with one end soldered via asmall hole drilled in the bottom for one lead the other poking out the top with….”strand wire” to reach the points
they are dirt cheap compared to oem and NAPA caps

October 23, 2023 at 12:57 pm #281986I bought some aftermarket condensers for my small Martins. I checked them with my Meec o Tronics 98 and they were a higher value than what was specified for the engine. They worked. I guess the most important thing is the fit. I would bet when you buy aftermarket condensers , You are going to find values all over the place. I guess if they are not leaking or shorted , run them.
