I will be replacing one of my coils on the subject motor in about a week or so. In the meantime, I have done a lot of research trying to determine the gaps between the laminations (I think thats what you call the horseshoe looking thing the coil is attached to?) and the mag disk on the crank?

I found (and lost again) some instructions for an older Johnson TD?? if I remember correctly, and the advance plate looked very similar (and, in fact, some of the Johnsons used the exact same coil) but I can’t find it even if it is a correct guide.

Does anyone have information about this?

I followed SeaKaye’s advice and searched the limited access members access area and unless I am not using the correct search terms I can’t find anything there?

      Thank you in advance!

The gap between the coil heels and rotating magnet should be .010 inch.
I use three small strips of .010 shim stock to set the gap, putting them
in between the magnet and coil heels, as I tighten up the coil hold down screws.
        Works for me.

        Prepare to be boarded!

Try this.  It’s taken from a Johnson manual but will also apply to your Gale product.
