what should the compression be on a 1953 gale(hiawatha) 5hp?
Some run ok at high 60s like a 9.5hp … imho look for 75-80 s or more .
the motor is 70 years old and likely lost some PSI depending on the amount of TLC it got all these years.
what psi do you have ?? 0 psi may indicate just a bad cyl. head gasket or a cyl.head that needs a good polishing job

my compression tester won’t seal because it will actually hit the piston head, need to grab another tester that won’t screw in so far
just had a oring or two or three
