I’ve used the 600V high dV/dT caps in a few different applications, Scott stand up WICO condensers mainly, but have no more than a few days of results on any motor.

are you saying you had positive results but to few to judge did have to row back to shore 🙂

or simply that you have not accumulated enough hours to give us a recommendation go or no go with 600 V caps ??

I’ve only run the motor a couple of times… both successfully. The caps I used were selected years ago based on an article in a Model T Ford forum for rebuilding Model T buzz coils. I have no reason to think they will not last as long as a more standard condenser. I have tested at least a couple dozen of the WICO stand up condensers with the screw terminal on top using a Heathkit C2 condenser tester. It wasn’t until last week that I found one that passed a leakage test up to 200 V. It failed above that. The ones with the crosshatched fiber insulator are notoriously bad. The ones with the solid black insulator are a little better.

Standard, good condensers are available for the Mercury. Not so much for the WICO.
