I am having problems breaking off the tabs of the lockplates meant to secure the connecting rod cap screws. I searched for replacements and they are $10 a piece and I need 12! Could I accomplish the intended task with the application of a Loctite product instead? Or a regular lockwasher? Or does anyone have any for sale for a more reasonable price?

      Thanks,

Somebody in the club makes them and his don’t fracture so easily. I bought 20 from him and like his better than OEM. Can’t remember who it was. Put an ad out in "Members Classifieds". He should answer. I oil my rod bolts for torquing purposes so Loctite doesn’t do much good. Don’t like it in that application anyway.

The trick is not to fold the tabs wide open. If you can open them just a bit, enough for the screw to turn with a large screwdriver, you can use them again.

Thanks for reminding me about Zeph’s locks. They are good quality for a fair price and I will use them again! 😀

I took Zeph up on his offer when he 1st started making them years back. No question; they are the finest ones made out there.

I tried to PM 1946 Zephyr a while ago, but got no reply. Is there a better way to reach this gentleman? Still need some cap screw locks.

                  Thanks,
