      Hello,
Has anyone had their aluminum heads plated? If so how did it hold up and where did you have it done.
      Thanks

Copper and aluminum are corrosion waiting to happen.

A good self etching primer and a couple coats of paint works for me. . . 😉

There is a treatment called anodizing in which aluminum can be given various color treatments that seem to hold up very well. The object to be treated is made the anode
and the type of salt in the electrolyte determines the color. Along the same line as electroplating but a different process. Copper is above aluminum on electrochemical
scale so in a corrosive environment the aluminum would be sacrificed. That is not to
say it can not or is not done.

You may have seen real copper heads,
ie; cast in copper and polished,
on Johnson opposed twin race motors.
They may have been of some value,
but were not seen on these motors after the war .

When anodized, wouldn’t the whole head be done? Would you want that on the inside of your head or water passages, to flake of sooner or later?

                      Anodizing won’t flake off.
