      Hi all;
      yeah, me again. Not trying to be irritating; I just want to go fishing!

      In the attached pic, with the mark on the flywheel matched up with the mark on the flywheel cover, and the distributor pulley timing mark lined up with the first "points break" mark on the distributor housing, is the belt timing correct?

      There seems to have been a lot of ignition changes during this era, and ’67 seems to be when OMC phased out the old breaker points style ignition.

      My manual is vague, and says to "rotate the distributor pulley until it’s timing mark aligns with the distributor bracket timing mark."
      If that is not what is pictured, someone please tell me where the appropriate timing mark is.

      Very much appreciated;
      Alan
      Edit; I think I found the mark; both it and the distributor pulley notch seem to be where I put the red arrows, in the top pic. Seems to indicate the belt is timed right. Please let me know if I’m wrong. It still seems that this puts the points in the wrong place to set; rubbing block is on a high part of the cam. Points are set when the throttle is closed, right?!?!

        The is from the service manual for the 1965 V4 Magneto – I hope it helps . . . 😕

          BELT timing marks are the marked tooth on the distributor pulley and the mark on the mark on the DISTRIBUTOR MOUNTING BRACKET. (and of course the flywheel marks). Throttle position makes no difference when setting the BELT timing. Neither does the points. Belt Timing and points timing are two separate operations.

              Actually, the BELT timing mark on the distributor mounting bracket can be seen in your second picture, between the cogs on the belt.

                Appreciated.
                Looks like the belt is timed correctly.

                When the distributor pulley mark is on the first "points break" mark, am I adjusting the set of points nearest the condenser?

                This would contradict the manual picture in the earlier post, but would make sense in terms of the rubbing block hitting the higher part of the cam.
                Thanks!

                  Heck, I dunno. Keep it simple. When the pulley and points break marks are aligned, you look at the cam and see which set of points are about to break. That is the set you will adjust. The other set will be wide open at that time.

                    Thank you so much!!!!
                    That’s what I am seeing.
                    The, "first" mark lines up with the, "second" set of points, which are just about to break when the marks line up.
                    This means I am done; the points are set correctly. Time to hit the key.
                    Much appreciation, and happy motoring to you!
