I have a 53 5hp Corsair and a 56 7.5hp. I totally agree that they were very well engineered motors for their time. The 53 was in the "Free" pile at Tomahawk two years ago, and even though we needed another motor like I needed another hole in my head, it followed us home. 🙄 We were able to have Brian Wilcox make an impeller for us, and with only minor work, it runs great. As for the 56, it was given to us, and it was stuck, and also the lower unit had issues. We were able to rebuild it and new seals and bearings later it works great. I also have a 53 Golden Pennant that is the same as the Corsair. I have not done anything to it, but it is in really nice condition. I am really a Mercury guy, but I am also a fan of the other brands like Scott!

Once you are there,…………….."Oh by the way, I just remembered that the fellow who has that Corsair I was looking for part for lives just down the road." "If you don’t mind, I think we should go look at it since we are here anyway"
April 7, 2017 at 3:49 pm #55713Oops, sorry for the double post…not sure how that happened. Wondering if I could impose on some of you Brothers-in-Scotts, Firestones, and Corsairs for some lower unit information or should I post a new topic?

she already knows that I want to go and I wanted her to go but she’s sick and can’t go soooo…I told her that there are doctors and hospitals located on the route… 😉
I’ve already used that one Mercman and it hasn’t been long enough to use it again yet 🙁
