I have seen on here photos of carburetors as old as the wind that look essentially brand new. I have always wondered how best to accomplish that.

Well….here’s the way some people apparently do it. Hard to believe this works so well….

So….how do you do it? What techniques and materials work well?

Looks like a hoax to me. Don’t think the motorcycle
tire would supply 30 minutes of blasting air.
Not one spec of powder residue on the carb
when he took it out of the can!

        Prepare to be boarded!

I too like that statement Wedgie!

In reality though, that is SORT OF what I do on a restored motor.

I don’t build the whole contraption though.

            I degrease first.
            Then I blast with soda.
Then I clean with a special blend (pretty much aluminum brightener)
            Then polish.

Ill post a couple pics tonight, have to do one anyways.

What I was jealous of was Mumbles Flywheels he paints!

Never did that until I saw his restorations. Now every time I look at an original flywheel just looks so dirty 🙂

I actually cleaned, blasted, brightened and polished the last QD I restored, that turned out really nice.

One of these, and a big box of store brand (cheap) baking soda. Use it outdoors, be mindful of the wind. I wet the driveway down, blast, then rinse the residue away. https://www.harborfreight.com/gravity-f … 93221.html

If you have too many, AND not enough, you're a collector.
