So I’ve been playing with the WB3 attempting to get the piston freed up. Been using various witches brews and no luck yet. Based on the position of the connecting rod cap it’s almost at TDC but far enough off that I can’t get to both bolts. Looks like I might have to resort to more drastic measures such as grease gun or a mechanical means to separate things. In the meantime I got to pondering something. I picked up a KF3 top end (no mag plate, flywheel, etc) that has good compression. I bought it with the thought that if the WB3 cylinder is roached I could swap the one from the KF3. I “think” that it might work since so many parts are similar on these earlier small displacement motors. The other day I had a brain fart and started wondering if I could swap the entire powerhead. The KF3 is the later model with phelon ignition while the WB3 has Eismann coils. Odds are it won’t work but I just have to check it out while I ponder the WB3 disassembly. I’m guessing that the deal killer will be the crankshaft dimensions.
