Does anyone know where I can get the 4 side cowl bolts for a 1954 25 hp Evinrude? Mine are missing. Thanks!

Are they 1/4-20 oval head machine screws from the hardware store?

Depends on how fussy you are!   The originals were button heads stainless steal.  They are hard to find.  My local hardware has 1/4 x 20 flat head bolts and I purchased a few of those.   We did some digging in his old stock bolts and found some flat heads with a flat blade slot in them.   Most of his new stock has Phillips head.   I bought an assortment and cut them off to the proper length.   If you go to some swap meets and do some digging you might find some originals.  The originals might have been chrome plated also.

I may just go the hardware store route. Finding the originals may be tough. Thanks!

                McMaster Carr probably has them.
