The old stuff has character and history. Sometimes I think it’s kind of fun to just imagine how happy some guy (or gal) was when they walked out of the dealership 50, 60, or 70 years ago with their new outboard. I can imagine how upset they got when it got its first scratch. I can imagine too how many really awesome fishing trips these old motors went on in their lifetimes. These old outboards are pieces of history and a look back at a much simpler time. Imagine what they would tell us if they could talk…or have I gone off the deep end? HAHA

There is one thing you don’t have to imagine.
      When you running a 50, 60, 70, or 90+ year
old motor your experiencing exactly what the
original owner did the first time and every time
he ran it. Its as close to going back in time as
      you can get.

Very, very true. Well put, Tubs.

Spock, my pointy eared friend, that motor looks a lot like my ’54 3hp Sea King which were built by OMC for Montgomery Ward back then I believe. What I’m saying is that it looks a bit newer newer than ’37.

I got one of those out of the scrap bin about 30 years ago, and bought another one with a Mercury Marc 5 for $100 a year ago.

            Spock,

In case you missed the first one, here is another that must be made of Gold instead of Aluminum.

              Good Grief!

That kinda comes around full circle to my original question; is it even worth it to contact these folks and attempt to gently let them know that they are WAAAY off and that you would be willing to pay a reasonable price? I can probably answer my own question there—probably not.

Have you guys ever had any luck talking someone back to reality who is that far off with their asking price?

              Thanks!!
