        sulfur oxide ….better not leak in the house

        year ago…. one bad odor old fridge we put outdoors killed the green grass 3 feet all around the leaky compressor !!!

          Sulphur Dioxide (S02) is nasty stuff. The pulp mill I worked in years ago made sulphuric acid out of raw sulphur and S02 was a byproduct. We needed respirators nearby at all times in case of a leak and any shiny pennies in your pocket would turn black by the end of the day if you were exposed to it. I can only imagine what it would do to your lungs.

            A cousin of mine was gassed by a leaking SO2 refrigerator.

            As a kid, I was taken to Sudbury ON, where sulfide ores were roasted. Truly a nightmare, Everything dead for miles downwind.

            I’m still curious about the Johnson Motors connection, if any.

              Yes, they manufactured refrigerators and I think an oil fired water heater.
