Johnson must have hired first graders to design this one?

        Yes sir, OMC made these!
I have a 2hp Evinrude version with recoil starter, since new in ’76.

They are very easy to work on, easy to run.

Those were advanced 1st graders Buccaneer since everything you need to know we should have learned in Kindergarten. 🙂

The ad states it’s a model SC10S ,which is a 1968 1.5 HP. I have two 2 hp I use as backups, mine have recoil starters A 1977 Johnson and a 1976 Evinrude, which matches my 1976 Evin 9.9. Easy to work on and great trolling motors . Jim

The Evinrude in the ad looks a little more stylish than the
Johnson on Craigs. I didn’t have the opportunity of "Kindergarden",
                    so I feel somewhat deprived!

In 1968/71 Johnson had a too "serious" style, (dark green with gold accents) that is not the correct look for a "kidding" engine as the Mate.

                      I love these little engines.

I own two ’70 Mate "European version" (all white), one complete and one bought as part motor without engine plastic cover and heavily damaged fuel tank…. I cannot resist to restore it to life so I have now both running… 😳

These lightweight eggbeaters actually go for decent $ on Ebay. They often have low compression from being run hard on 50:1
