I was just looking at my inventory list and pondering why I show two 1957
35 hp Evinrudes, but one a Model 25930 and the other 25028.
Do I have a "clerical" error, or did Evinrude have two different 35 hp
      models in 1957?
I think the 25930 is a parts engine with no lower unit or hood, so
I’m not sure I could readily tell the differences ….. and too dark
and too tired out to go on a field trip.
Thanks in advance for your insight!

What I can glean from my ref volume, the -028 was the basic Bigtwin with manual start, short , -930 was electric start, short shaft, and cost $180 more. No clues why, but I’d bet somebody knows.

The Old Outboard Book lists 25930 as "Electric Bigtwin", and the 1957 Lark as 25526…

Thanks guys! If it was me, I would have just used one number
and put an "E" after it for the electric start version!
I’m guessing that most parts will interchange then, if I
need to swap a carb, internals, etc.
Will have to see if the electric start motor and mount there.
            Thanks!

About 99.9% of everything is interchangeable. Cosmetic stuff is basically the only diffference between all the models, mechanically. I have just a bit of that stuff from ’55 to ’59. Good vintage iron 😀
The older 25’s do have smaller gears than the 30 and 35hp counterparts too.

Looked at the parts motor with no LU quick today. The electric starter
is there, so if I get the complete one running I might have to think
about adding electric start to it. Might have to borrow a bigger
boat to try it out though…… the 15 hp on my little AlumaCraft
                was a wild enough ride!
