I always thought that pal decals were predominantly Gold with red writing but I found a tank with a black decal and red writing, how many different pal decals were there? 🙄

March 26, 2015 at 2:30 pm #12810I have always thought that I had a black and yellow decal on my PAL model 4203
I have learned something again today.
a very, very, very dark blue I understand nowMarch 27, 2015 at 2:38 pm #12861Tubs, I wish I knew half of what you forgotten about outboards.
You are still the master in my book.
I have been reading (and learning ) from your posts for years.
The only reason I knew this one, is that I am working right now on 37 Pal, and did a bunch of Internet research as the "traditional" gold one wasn’t showing up in all of the pictures.
By the way Dixie from oldoutboarddecals has all three version.

March 27, 2015 at 5:12 pm #12867Yea Tubs , Pantone #,s are your friends!
Another variable that raises its ugly head in this mess, is the reaction of the original decals to years of gas exposure. I have seen, and have a bunch of Elto decals from the late thirties where the gold background turned green.
Tough to nail down exact shades without finding a pristine museum sample.
