Does anybody happen to know or have a driveshaft handy that they could measure the length of. I need to know how long a #376093 is, it is for a 1954, Evinrude 7.5 hp, model 7514. Thanx, Bob

Those models have a shock absorbing clutch at the bottom of the drive shaft which eliminated the brass shear pin. They instead use a stainless steel drive pin. They perform flawlessly as long as NO WATER gets into the gear case. When that happens the rusty clutch spring breaks and riding up on itself pushes the top of the clutch into the upper bushing and seal assembly,. This can mimic a frozen powerhead and can distort the water pump. Some have managed to twist the clutch in the opposite direction and push it back together. Then weld it solid and use a brass shear pin. Others have pitched the assembly and use the later model’s solid drive shaft. The gear case must be modified to use the later model prop which has a rubber clutch, or use the original prop with a brass shear pin. . . . 😉
