Hello to all. I need some help. I have infected my neighbor, Jerry Ball, with the old outboard motor bug. He purchased a 1958 Evinrude Ducktwin model 3028 last week and is trying to restore it. Unfortunately, the tank was damaged enough that he is having it rebuilt and repainted which means he needs a decal set for it. Does anyone know if a redroduction decal for the Ducktwin is being made?? The duck on front of his tank has one wing pointing downward unlike later models which have both wings pointing upward. Can anyone help out there??

By the way, Jerry has joined the AOMCI and its Texas Chapter. So, he needs your help fellow members. Thank you.

Jerry may need to have a graphics business make him a decal. I had vinyl decals made of Canada geese for goose hunting permit stations – the price wasn’t too bad, but they were only two color. Couldn’t hurt to get an estimate.
I have a 1960 Ducktwin with upward pointing wings. 😉
Here’s a pic from the internet:

            Thanks Scoots and David,

Jerry showed me his tank today and it actually has the same design as the decals made by American Outboard with both wings up and the separate duck sitting to the right. I personally do not have good luck with water-applied decals. I find them hard to lay out on curved surfaces and I do not seem to have the proper technique to seal them. I know how I am supposed to do it, but I usually get impatient and spray too much clear coat and onion peel the decal. As a result, I prefer the transfer decals which are a little more forgiving and easier to apply . . . . . . . . at least to me they are.

There was someone who was selling vinyl Ducktwin decals at one time, but their web site has disappeared. Anyone know who that was?
