Hi Guys,    I’m in the process of restoring a 1952 Elgin 16hp, I have it all the way down to a bare block and am now trying to find someone that can supply me with a set of piston rings ?  The bore is 2.562 (2 9/16″) the rings are .062 thickness and about .098 in width (worn). Piston grove is .110 deep. The top of each of these rings have a chamfer \ cut on the top inner edge of each ring, called a pressure back ring. I need 6 but would like to buy 8 in case I break one installing them !  I’ve heard Mercury might have a bore of 2 9/16 on some of their engines but I don’t have any information of the ring width or piston specs.  If any of you know of rings of this size please let me know !

      Thanks

      Gary

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

Thanks Tubs,  Otto was one of the first ones I contacted ! He said the dimensions I gave him didn’t match anything he had and he was so backed up he couldn’t help me out, he also said he was getting to old to do these kind jobs !  Kinda sad when his web site says he can make rings to fit just about anything !

Earlier this year He made me a set of rings for a small Evinrude Fisherman that worked great !  So I guess I won’t be going back to him for any other needs !
