      That pulley system is in the realm of things I like to call.. "a complicated solution to a non-existant problem". It is an interesting motor, and it has really unusual lines in the cowling department.

        The low-mounted recoil rope helps to keep it from tilting up when you pull on it. The pulleys are a better solution than Champion’s approach which was to put the whole starter below the powerhead IMHO.

          I managed to pick up a very nice 16hp Elgin.
          im now on the hunt for a remote control setup. Throttle/shift and steering attachment.
          found a NOS prop which was a bonus. This is a tribute restore to my Father who ran one in 1950’s

          would love to find a color code for the green paint.
