Does anyone have a good source for Elgin parts. 571.58521. Looking for general parts. Coils, water pump, carb rebuild kits….

That’s a 1947 3.5 HP made by West Bend for Sears. I don’t know where to get parts, but some West Bend parts will interchange. If it used a 3rd party magneto that some other manufacturers used, there may be ignition parts out there. Someone here probably knows what it has for a magneto.

Often carbs on these old motors can just be cleaned out and reassembled without a kit, sometimes you have to make a new bowl gasket if the old one doesn’t come off in one piece. I seldom buy a carb kit for any motor.
        Good Luck!

Are you sure you need coils? I’m thinking it has the old orange Wico coils, which are nearly indestructible. Water pump?? Again, I’m not sure but it might have the old sliding vane impeller. You gotta make those yourself. But if it has the rubber vaned impeller, try clubmember Brian Wilcox, who makes aftermarket impellers. Finally, martinoutboards.com has aftermarket Tillotson MD carburetor parts.

All this is on speculation of what’s in there. Worth every penny. Which is nothing.

No-no. Advice may not be worth anything.
