A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

the question is what is this? it is a rubber boot. I the boot improves the connection and acts as a strain relief.

no these are green plastic replacement coils. It looks like I need new condensers – as I have no spark. Or I wired the new coils backward.

I’m guessing Tubs question was “why” that coil was oriented opposite of the other one,
but perhaps the “clocking” of the coil doesn’t matter if the flywheel doesn’t rub on the wire.
If the coil was installed on the lams in opposite directions, (flipped 180 deg horizontally) then perhaps
there’s a flux or polarity issue? Hopefully someone can straighten me out
              on that one!

              Prepare to be boarded!

placed them on the cores so the leads could be connected to the points and condensor. Also the plug wire connection and orientation of that connection. Up and out to get the plug wire. Also, one coil has long leads the other short leads.
Would the orientation be to place the covered ends inward? Or just make certain both are the same orientation on the core ? Again concerns over the leads reaching their marks. Yes I could splice the leads longer.
I think routing the longer leads is an issue I will solve.
