no it has conventional mid 50 white carb knobs looks a bit like a qd-fd blue sides white strip centered on cowl

Sounds like a 1956. I’m passively looking for one of those. Decent motors. Not much to say about it. Its a Gale built motor. Single line tank.

Thanks Crosbyman. Just a little too rough and a little too far. I’m after a nice original. $75 is a good price though. I may know a guy who might be interested.

The Elto name was used for direct sales of Gale models in Canada (like Buccaneer in the U.S.)

Here is what I have for 12hp Elto Speedster years and models (my comments in parens based on US models):
1950 C2E8 — C for Canada, E for Elto (Direct Drive, Wedge Head)
1951/53 12D10E — E for Elto (FNR, Wedge Head, Tank on top)

1954 12D11E (FNR, bolt-on cyl head, tank on top AND fuel pump!)
1955 12D12E (??)
1956 12D13E (FNR, remote tank only)
