I’ve now got what I thought were 4 Elto Pal’s, but now that I look at them, 3 are marked 4266, and 1 is marked 4203, and 2 have larger heads and different exhaust manifolds than the other 2. Basically I’ve got 2 of each kind, but 3 are marked 4266. Does anyone have pictures of the different models so I can figure this out? I need to find parts for one but I’m not sure what parts I’m looking for now…

Ye Olde Outboard book says:
4203 is a 1937 Pal
4266 is a 1938-1941 Pal:
SN to 2000 is 1938
SN to 7000 is 1939
SN to 12000 is 1940
SN 12000 and up is 1941October 7, 2017 at 8:58 pm #65865Ok, that helps a little. Now I at least know they’re all Pals, but are there any differences with the different heads as far as the internals? I don’t really want to tear apart one of my 3 runners to measure it.

you find parts manuals to see the details.
there is also a model 4253 but I have no info about that one.
😉 good luck
.October 7, 2017 at 10:50 pm #65870Ok, that helps. The one I need to find rings for is the 1937 4203 with the cast iron cylinder. I might try to take apart my runner to take measurements, but the nuts look pretty rusty… I’ll check out that link now

The the ring dimensions are
1 3/8"x 3/32"
Here is a link to a ring supplier.

A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
October 8, 2017 at 3:33 pm #65912Tubs, thanks a lot, I’ll order those right away. Garry, thanks for clarifying. I would have expected the pistons and ring to be different between the types of cylinders.
October 8, 2017 at 3:46 pm #65914Nope. There is variations in the pistons but the size
of the rings is the same in all Pal models.
If you have a piston you can measure and
confirm these dimensions.A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
October 9, 2017 at 2:09 pm #65951Ok, I think I just have a couple more questions- What should the ring gap be? And what is that little piece of rubber that seals the tube going from the water pump up to the head and where can I find one? That’s the only other piece missing on this motor, apart from a single bolt holding the tank on
