      Hello all,
I have a 1936 ELTO Ace 4145 and a 1937 Evinrude Sportsman 4207 both with the cast iron swivel brackets. I was wondering if these motors originally came with driveshaft clamps that fit under the swivel brackets to keep driveshaft from sliding up the bracket? Neither of mine do but not sure if they are missing.

Here is the parts book. . . 😀

At a time when jobs were scarce and money was tight, many fishing boats were home built. Many times the hight of the transom depended on what they had to work with. In the mid 1930s Evinrude advertised an owner adjustable transom hight. This is from a 1935 brochure.

This from the 1937 Evinrude brochure. The Sportsman was like the Elto Ace except for the fuel tank and motor covers.

This is the 1938 Ace swivel bracket.

Thank you Garry. No driveshaft clamp in your Ace photo or parts list. I noticed the 1937 brochure Ace photo of the gas tank filler neck being in middle of tank so that my model 4145 1936-37 might be a 1937 (if original tank). I presume based on these brochure photos and 1936 parts manual that the changeover from filler necks from port side of tank to middle happened between 1936-1937? Also then the decal change-over from blue to the more common gold? I just wish someone would offer an early blue Ace decal in vinyl.

            I really liked the Ace. . . 😉
