I dissembled the lower unit from the powerhead on a Elto RT that was free and the flywheel turn as is it should. I took it apart for polishing. The lower unit and powerhead turn easily before. I’ve now have reassembled it twice and the first time it was totally stuck. Second time, right now, I assembled it only using 2 of the 4 bolts to attach the lower unit to the powerhead without the prop on. On the second assembly the flywheel it is quite stiff. Shaft and head went together fairly easy so I feel its aligned right. Any idea what I am missing?
I have done this before on an earlier 1922 without any problem.

June 21, 2021 at 3:36 pm #240846Did you replace the crankcase base gasket with the correct thickness? If it is to thin or no gasket at all it could cause the condition you are describing
once you tighten it down. Your crankshaft end play will be governed by your base gasket thickness. Do you have any end play?Respectfully,
Brook
June 22, 2021 at 2:21 pm #240944Brook thank you for you suggestion. I may have a to thin a gasket material. I will loosen the bolts on the bench and back the lower unit down to see if that helps.! I will let you know.
June 22, 2021 at 4:39 pm #240952I backed the lower unit 1/4″ off from the head without any luck. Still locked up. End play, could you elaborate what you mean, on the drive shaft in the lower unit?
June 22, 2021 at 6:34 pm #240965I now back the lower unit away and the power head 3/4″ away from each other and both moved freely. ????? Each time I kept both 2 pieces as close to level a I possible..
