Electric start Antique Evinrudes were available through the early 1940s – – – 😀
The Senior Speedster Steve Woods has gives great boat rides. He runs the Atwater Kent ignition system on four ""D" cells in a capped PVC pipe. One of the most efficient ignitions ever devised. It only draws current when the engine is running. – – – 🙂

January 11, 2018 at 1:53 pm #69540January 11, 2018 at 3:10 pm #69545it does look home-made. Looks like they used part of a tiller arm bracket and added some stuff to it. Don’t recall any official Elto accessories like that. If it works – then that’s all that matters.

I thought of doing something similar, but I assumed the D cells wouldn’t have enough capacity. How long will a motor run with this configuration?
