      A friend of mine is building a GleL ‘Malahini’ and has the luxury of 2 engine options.

      1982 Merc 850 85 HP or 1968 Evinrude 85 HP with electronic shift

      Which would you recommend, and why

          Being an OMC guy that wasn’t a very fair comparison. Those motors were from two different generations. Even I chose the Merc. It isn’t the electric shift that would scare me away from the 85hp, it would be the ignition system. Very costly to repair even back them and could be troublesome to keep operational. As far as crosbyman’s comment might not always be the younger woman? Not now days anyway!
