My manuals do not cover this model , Could someone confirm that the prop shaft seal to fit this motor should be # 300599 [new number 327031] Thanks

A "Boathouse Repair" is one thats done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.
December 6, 2020 at 9:18 am #224368Old number 300599 is superseded by 327031 (or Sierra 18-2035). So what did you get?

The very early Lightwins and JW’s produced did use a different size seal on the prop shaft and I believe it was the same one used on the Johnson TN 26-28’s. They were probably using up old parts first again. If you can post the serial number, it will help identify the year it was made.

December 6, 2020 at 5:40 pm #224412Wow , The seals I got [all 10 of them] are the 327031 seals . they are the same size as the 18-2035 seal. However, indeed they do not fit. The OD of those seals is 0.875. The bore in my housing measures 0.740. I thought that maybe I did not get the metal outer ring removed from the old seal but alas the bore is clean. So I ended up chucking the housing up in my lathe and opened the bore to 0.873 so the seals I bought will now work. I hated change from OME sizing but I could not find a seal by size that I thought would work. Thanks for all the replies, Happy Holidays to all
