Evinrude 4207 Sportsman carb adjustments

Re; Evinrude Elto Sportsman 4207 poppet valve adjustment.

can someone help with “ how to” adjust the poppet valve spring. I’ve assembled the valve and measured the pressure to open the valve . Specs are 3 oz but mine takes 4.6  oz to open. My trouble is with keeping it running below half throttle, in spite of needle valve steering. Can this effect operation or should I ignore?

If the spring shows no indication of being altered
(stretched) I suggest you look else where. Most
likely compression. Typically these are found
having around 60 lbs. While they will still start
and run, its not enough for them to run properly
in the mid to slow range.
