Had the “new to me” subject motor running this morning,
but it did not want to restart when warm.
Decided to take the mag plate off, check it out,
install a new capacitor, etc.
Was saddened to see my ohm meter show “Zero” ohms
on the secondary. Primary was .1 ohms.
Tried a different meter, same ting.
Hooked the coil up to my Stevens’ tester, and coil
fires at about 1.5 amps, and probing on the tops side
of the coil found no leakage.
Guessing the secondary winding is “open”, but the Stevens
is jumping the gap……. beginning to wonder what good
the Stevens’ tester is?
Started thinking about substitute coils, but not sure of
a modern alternative. Anyone know?
I looked at a Zephyr coil, but it’s about 1/8″ longer, and
the inner core laminate is quite a bit different.
Thoughts? Thanks.
