Hello all,
I am helping a friend to source information relating to an Evinrude Lightfour in his possession. Unfortunately he hasn’t provided any photos yet however he has advised that there are two ID plates affixed to this outboard.
The first (main) plate contains model and serial number, 4398-00250
The second plate states Bureau of Ships. No. 0-12842
Via the ‘Old Outboards ID Guide’ on Maxrules.com, I’ve been able to obtain a little more detail (1945 9.7hp Evinrude Lightfour, Heavy Duty Long-shaft, Air-borne Reverse). I’ve not been able to find much else on the internet.
Before I go back to him with the above-mentioned, I would like to know what the terms Heavy Duty and Air-borne Reverse actually relate to, and how this outboard differs from a standard Lightfour of the same/similar vintage.
Needless to say, any additional information would also be welcomed.
Thanks & Regards,
Spiro
