      On a 1914 or 15 Evinrude RBM what is the compensator assembly? what does it do? Is there a drawing of it?

        It reduces the amount of torque on the tiller so the operators arm doe not get tired…..as fast…

              No there isn’t any spring, it is a good size bulge in the tower between the tilt quadrant arms.

                I believe there’s a coil spring in there – give me a second, I think I posted pics of mine last year.
