Hi All. Could someone please advise me as to the paint colour on the above motor.
I have just received new decals and want to make sure the paint colour is correct…….
I get the impression it could be dull silver.
Thanks in advance for your help.

You would be correct. Everything is painted
dull silver except the fuel petcock, fuel line,
and crab banjo fitting which were nickel plated.
Most of that doesn’t show because of the covers.

Thanks again

The carb fuel fitting on the left is referred to as the Banjo fitting
and would be correct for a Scout. Also correct for 37 Pal and
the early1938 Pal’s #4253. Later #4253 motors used a 90 degree
compression fitting like the carb on the right. Several other
motors also used the Banjo fitting but it was pretty much gone by
1938, the early Pal, #4253 being one exception. The 1938 -41 Pal
#4203 would have the a 90 degree compression fitting. Over the
years parts can get moved around to keep motors running.
By the way I wouldn’t expect the paint to last too long on the
exhaust pipe if you plan on running it unless you use some of that
high temp exhaust manifold paint.

and thanks for your suggestion re heat resisting pain for the exhaust……good point!

PS I guess that lovely lake we see in your videos is iced over now.

Here is a Ho Ho Ho back at ya. While years ago there would be fishing and snow
machines on the lake long before now, the lake hasn’t any ice on it today. It did start
to freeze over but it warmed back up and what was there has melted. The climate
has really changed in that part of our country. Summer and winter.
