      Guys,
My intentions are to sell this motor. Since I am not knowledgeable on OMC products, I am trying to get an idea how much this motor might be worth and if there is a market for this type of motor.

      Thanks,
      Bill

OK, sorry, I guess we got off on the wrong track, answering all the questions you didn’t ask, and not answering the one you did ask. To get back on topic, you asked if there is a market for them. In my opinion, the market is pretty limited because of the fear of the electric shift and the reputation for being a gas guzzler. Those two issues always come up whenever those motors are mentioned.

I’ll leave it to somebody else to take a shot at the value.

          FrankR,
My intentions are to sell this Evinrude outboard motor. I am not going to run this motor in Salt or Brackish water. I am trying to find out what this outboard is worth and if there is any interest out there in old Evinrudes.

          Thanks,
          Bill

Not worth very much in my opinion.

I have a 1960 sitting in the shop that was given to me. It was offered on a forum with hundreds of members and was listed there for several days with no takers.

Well, unfortunately there won’t be much interest in this engine for all the reasons mentioned, especially its thirst for fuel. You will definitely have to wait for someone who is restoring a period correct boat and looking for one of these classic V4s. Can you post some pictures?
In order to realize any cash from being sold, this engine would have to be in near perfect cosmetic and mechanical condition. Like others have said, the wiring and junction/control boxes will have to be in good shape as well.
So, based on very little knowledge about your engine’s condition, I will throw out an estimate of $300 as a realistic sales price.
