This weekend, I’m gonna’ go look at what appears to be an early/mid ’50’s Feather Craft 11′ "Penguin" to use to play with my growing collection of old outboards. Other than obvious damage, what know issues should I be looking for? I’d like to avoid finding out that I brought home the equivalent of scrap aluminum.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Jim
I say "pardon me" a lot. I had a 20H, then raced open mod sleds.
The penguin is a neat model. I like the look of them. They were built in the early days of Feather Craft. With the flat bottom and low horsepower capacity it probably wouldn’t be my first choice for a test boat, but I’d bring it home with me. There isn’t much to look for. Its like any other aluminium boat. Check for damage, cracks and missing or badly damaged rivets.
