What’s up with the Firestone fuel tanks? There’s a flange that runs out around the middle of the tank that makes me this it’s meant to set into some base? Looking on the internet, I don’t see any such thing. I’m trying to picture the Mad Men marketing meeting where they explained why “Fuel-o-matic” was going to improve sales.

Nah, the flange is only where they joined the top and bottom together. But the idea of a base has merit. Too bad you’re a few years late.

Just the construction of it. And the O-Matic part, the fifties loved those kind of names. The parent co, Scott Atwater had Bail-O-Matic. Fun times.

Popular even into the 70’s with Dan Aykroyd and his Bass-o-matic on SNL

A "Boathouse Repair" is one that done without having tools or the skills to do it properly.

                That “Nav-O-Matic” is pretty sweet!

For the Nav-o-matic, can you get different discs for each state? Maybe they sell them at your local Esso Station?
