Anyone have a parts diagram for a late 40’s Firestone/Scott 7.5 hp gear case? I need to replace the seals. I need a seal number for the prop shaft and guidance on how to seal the drive shaft.

David, I might have it. Whats the model # on the tag. The 1st 2 #’s are most important as the last 2 are the year in reverse.

Looks like the model number is 133-8-489. Stock number 10-A-3

1948. They didn’t worry too much about sealing in those days. No seal on the drive shaft just the bushings.

Sorry David, I do not have. I was thinking pure Scott-Atwater, which I have

This probably is the same as what oltimer has. I suspect they take the same lower unit.

Gear grease. Use John Deere Corn head grease or lubriplate 105. Corn head grease is way cheaper.
Firestone’s were made by Scott. The late 40’s and early 50s before the bailer were good motors. They have some issues keeping impellers though due to scoring or warping. I have a 51 7.5 that runs well. It’s hard to get impellers since the Scott guy passed away.

Thumper, I emailed the Scott guy the other day
                      regarding an impeller.
He replied, and his sentence parsing seemed
okay, so maybe still among the breathing?
