Same hull, different decking. A Flying D is similar to your FDR. It’s intended to be a runabout. The FD can be a simple fishing boat or can be fitted eith a biw deck and/or a mid steering deck.
Great looking boats! This one not so nice. Looks to be stripped out. Just two seats is all that’s left. Can’t even tell from the pics if the front bow cover is still there. I’m going to look into it more for sure.
You probably know this, but the “D” was originally used to mean “Deep”.. The FD is a deeper version of the F, and so is rated for more HP. After they started the FD thing, it appears that any model using the basic FD hull had a D in the model number.

Thanks Dave! While I am aware the FD is a deeper hull, I wasn’t aware the D stood for “deep”. Weird they called the deep C a “deep C” but didn’t call the FD a “deep F”. I suppose because the C hull had so many varieties, super C, CS, flying C, etc

I never did buy it. Only had the rear two seats in it. Everything up front had been stripped out. Complete, I would have bought it. Just going to keep my eyes open for an fd. That’s more what I’m looking for. Very hard to find down here in southern Missouri. I have a model f and love it. Just need a bigger boat to put my 56 javelin on.
