The secret to the OMC puller is using the shoulder bolts that come with it and its thick body and oversize pressure center screw. (OMC service dealer, 1976-2010) still use my first one. Find a bolt outlet that sell the shoulder bolts and the thick washers, that way you are ready for any job that needs to be done.
The other advantage of the actual OMC puller is that it has a hole in the base where that sturdy rod can be inserted to help lock the puller in place while you tighten the puller screw. Although lately I have found that the electric impact works great also
The beauty of the OMC hardened bolts & washers also hardened is the bolts are stepped so the heads are larger & installing them down to the flange all seat perfectly & ready to tighten the center bolt for removal
