Folding Evinrude Case Repairs

Ok, so this little 3 hp Evinrude followed me home today. Can I keep it? You bet but now I need to figure out how to repair the case. I had never seen one before and just assumed they were fiberglass. No such luck. It is some kind of plastic, pretty thin and almost tearable. Has anyone out there repaired this stuff? If I had to guess I would try epoxy resin, possibly backed with some light weight glass cloth. I would rather not guess unless I have to. So please …. someone out there who has repaired theirs give me a clue.

I have repaired one about a year ago. I used fiber glass cloth and epoxy. Worked just fine.

Thanks Joel, I feel a little better trying that route now than someone has said it worked for them.

Scuff it up well in the. Inside where you’re putting. The patch so it’ll stick well. It won’t stay stuck if the plastic is smooth.
