That’s a nice one Dave. I had one of those follow me home from Tomahawk back in August. Mine appears to have had the lower unit replaced at some point. It’s not pumping water and it needs a tune up but I should have mine ready for the boat in the spring. I’m mostly an OMC guy but I kind of have a thing for the Mark25. I bought mine from Jim Judkins. Here’s a pic of mine.

when checking the water pump check the welch plug in the water tube hole. if bad it wont pump

Thanks Dave! I’ll check that Welch plug when I get into this motor. Any advice will be welcomed as I don’t have a lot of Merc experience. I do not want to hijack your thread though. 😉

Nice that you got the remote control kit with it! I wish I could find a good Mark 25 at a reasonable price!

Dad had the similar 1958 Mark 25 he bought new back then. Used it for water skiing and Spark plugs fouled regularly unless he used white marine gas and Quicksilver oil. Yes – Mercury did offer Quicksilver oil back then! Today’s unleaded is similar to white gas.
