Hi
I just came across this and cant find any identifying marks on it. There is only 1 marking on it “J4065” stamped on the mount.
Does anybody have any idea what it is. There was an 1934 Evinrude model “4065” but it looks nothing like this. The “J” makes
me think it might be a Wizard but I’m just guessing.
Thanks for any help.
Kelly
August 3, 2023 at 4:28 am #278771I’m pretty sure It’s a Muncie / Neptune. My computer took a dump and I can’t access my files. If someone hasn’t identified it before Monday I may have an answer for you then. There’s nothing stamped on top of the the rope pulley?
Tubs.

August 3, 2023 at 7:30 am #278773Caille?Check on Jack Craibs Caille outboard site.
August 3, 2023 at 1:50 pm #278777I believe it is a Caille (Motorgo) with the rope plate name ground off. It looks like a Junior but I am not an expert by any means. Caille removed the name on the rope plate, painted it red and sold it as a Motorgo, less expensive outboard. I might be around a 1932 model year.

Your probably correct. I’m struggling with the Tillotson carb being on it but in not very knowledgable here so it may be correct. Looks to be a nice example in the pictures. Tubs

August 3, 2023 at 11:18 pm #278788Thanks for all of the info. I was looking at the Caille site and thought it might be a Model 16A. The rope center plate does appear to be ground off and there is no multiflex control.
Is there a site on the motorgo engines?

I just bought a Motorgo, and I’m told it’s one made by “Muncie”,
so I can see where the Neptune “look-a-like” confusion comes in.
I haven’t had time to look for any numbers on mine yet.Prepare to be boarded!
August 4, 2023 at 12:23 pm #278799If you go back to the Caille site and click on the badged motors and then scroll down to Motorgo, you’ll see your motor,”Motorgo Junior” whose serial number begins with “J”

August 4, 2023 at 10:09 pm #278810I hate to butt in this thread, but it looks like Kelly and I are in the same boat,
so to speak.I just brought a Motorgo home from Tomahawk, which I was told was
a “Motorgo Junior”, made by Muncie.According to the info pointed out on Jack’s site, it seems that all the “Junior”
models were made by Caille?Caille was the manufacturer for the Sears, Roebuck and Co. line of Motorgo outboards from 1928 to 1932.
(The exception in 1932 was the 3 h.p. model which was made by Muncie Gear Works Corporation.)20 h.p. Motorgo Big Boy
14 h.p. Motorgo Senior
6 h.p. Motorgo Junior.
3 h.p. Motorgo (Cailles were 2.75 h.p. actually, but Sears rounded up)Mine has a “J4029” number, which leads me to believe it’s the 6 hp Junior made
by Caille, not Muncie.
Are my conclusions correct?
Thanks.
I presume the funky “green” paint is incorrect.

I’m guessing my exhaust has been modified?

Prepare to be boarded!
