There are just a few areas that give problems in most classic OMC carburetors . . . 🙂

Bits of junk in the slots under the Welsh plug on the top of the carburetor will cause problems when coming off idle.

Drifter, you may have helped me. i have a CD-15 im trying to get going and it did the same thing. i havent gotten a chance to yank the carb off again and check the vents. Although a little odd as when it was apart to put the new kit in i blew all the holes out with compressed air, i did notice a mud dauber nest outside the carb in one of the crevasses so…. ill revisit this tomorrow.

The engine runs great with the slightly smaller carb (0.750). It may be the easiest starting engine I have ever owned. I have tested it in the tank 3 different times and it starts in one pull from cold or hot. Idles very smoothly down to a tick/tock and appears to transition quickly and smoothly to as high a speed as I dare in the tank. I sure learned something yesterday and I am really happy to say so. I freed one side (left) with lots of air and brake cleaner, and the other side with a drill bit held in hand followed by air and cleaner.
            Thank you all,
