Fuel cap springs are common to many motors. They are necessary as I find out when the motor quits for lack of the vent to the tank. This is an Elgin cap. Where can I get the spring….. need about six.

Same size as the springs used in battery powered flashlights?

Hardware stores quite often have a drawer with a bunch of different types of springs. You can look at them and see what might work. But I got to thinking yes smaller flashlights or any old battery operated item that are waiting to be tossed might have a size that you are looking for. And to think of all the old broken kids toys I got rid of over the years

Thanks…yes, it does look like a flashlight spring. I just threw four or five away this winter. I’ll try the hardware store. Lowe’s and HomeDepot don’t have.

My favorite place to go for oddball stuff is Fastenal — if it’s not on display in their storefront, they’ll drag out a catalog and help you find it.
