My 5hp Hiawatha came with this fuel connector attached, its doesn’t look to be Scott based?

That looks like a Merc connector.

It also looks like the female end, which should be on the tank line.

If I recall right there were two sizes, how do I determine which size?

I have found that the small merc connectors can be used with the Scott motors. As Tom noted, the male end should be mounted on the motor.

Dollars to donuts someone stuck that one there because they didn’t have the original Scott connector. I’ll bet they ground off the ears and simply attached it to the NPT barb that the original Scott one mounted to.

If you want it to be original you can probably dig up the original (male) connector from an ad on the Webvertize, note to Doug Penn or looking on flea-bay. As noted elsewhere in this thread, the small Merc or correct Scott connector will work on the original Scott male/motor end.

If you don’t care about originality but just want to run the motor, you could adapt a Chrysler/Force barb and connector – or any other barb/connector that fits.

Found a Scott connector while cleaning the shed. There was one on a 12hp Elgin I had picked a few years back to fix another. Now getting ready for the test tank.

                      Thanks to all
