Using the original 2 line fuel tank, I get pressure from the pump on the tank
and it starts but runs only a short time. I can re pump and it will start again.
I have replaced the tank to engine hoses and the o rings in the connector.
The rubber check valve behind the carb appears to be in great condition.
Is fuel delivery to these engines a problem that is sometimes solved with a
different fuel pump and a one hose tank?

        Is the gas cap tight?

Yes, in fact I bought the kit for the tank. I suppose I should test it with soapy water? Also does the pump on the tank pressurize it or just push fuel through the hose?

That button is a fuel pump. It fills the carburetor and the running engine should then pressurize the tank. So this eliminates the bulb in the line when converting these tanks to a single hose. . . 😀

If the tank is not being pressurized by the running engine, should I replace the rubber check valve under the carb?

P.S. Unless you place the tank in a forward position to balance the load. In that case, you would want a primer bulb close to the motor. . . 😆

Garry, I’m missing something. How could you convert a two line tank to a one line. What would deliver fuel without pressurizing the tank?

You don’t. Well you could but that isn’t the usual way. The usual way is to put a fuel pump on the motor and use a non-pressure tank with single hose & primer bulb.

Seems as though you have a good pressure tank though. Find the leak and fix it. The relief valve is a common leakage point.

I like the fuel pump idea. Who makes that?

If there are leaks or if the pressure relief valve (38) is missing the spring it will not pressurize. if the motor check valve is not seating properly, it will not pressurize. If the nipple the tubing plugs on to digs in to the rubber, it may create a flap that shuts off the air. . . 😉
