Hi, I have a 6R73S 6 hp. Johnson O.B. the unit is spilling gas out of the Carb.
Previous owner installed a larger then needed fuel line hose..I need to know the proper
      fuel line hose dimension.

      thanks, GVB

        Hi GVB,

Gas spilling out of your carburetor would not typically be caused by the wrong sized fuel line unless of course it is leaking at the hose connection itself. Gas spilling out of the carburetor is usually caused either by a carb bowl venting problem (clogged vent) or a needle and seat which is stuck or worn.

The fuel line on mine is 1/4″ inside diameter, some have used 3/16″ inside diameter. As long as it fits snug it will be fine.

Could also be a bad carb float. Common on the old cork floats when ethanol in the gas eats the protective coating – then the float soaks up gas like a sponge and sinks, letting gas flow freely in. Replacement float #0396514 is plastic to withstand ethanol.
