What’s a good replacement for the fuel line that goes from the fuel fitting to the carb on a 1956 Johnson Javelin 30hp? Would that be 5/16″?

December 9, 2025 at 1:07 pm #302204I found that 3/16 works well, 3/32 (I think) seems to work well too.

December 9, 2025 at 9:31 pm #302212Dave I would say that the 30hp needs the 5/16″ line. It might be tough to get the 3/16 on those bigger fittings. 40hp motors use 3/8″ line. JMHO

December 9, 2025 at 10:16 pm #302215Here’s the carburetor off my ’56 Johnson 30hp which is the standard model (not a Javelin) and this carb uses 3/16″ fuel line. I would assume your carb is the same as this one as the only difference between the standard and Javelin models was the cowling cosmetics.

The other difference is that my carb is not as clean and shiny as yours. : )
December 10, 2025 at 8:15 am #302218Well, if you’re replacing the fuel line you can always shiny up the carb too!! LOL
